Fantastic Voyage edit - 2003
This video was made during the winter of 2003 while I was recovering from a bout of illness. It was then screened as part of a short film program organized for the mobile cinema during a residency at the first Frieze Art Fair in 2003. You can find more information about the mobile cinema here.
The video is constructed from a collection of exterior/interior scenes from the 1966 movie ‘Fantastic Voyage’. Exterior in the sense that they show the outside of the space ship, interior because the ship is miniaturized and inside a human body.
My interest in this film was partly to do with the monotony of the journey (despite killer white cells) and partly about the satisfying parallels with ‘the Numskulls’ comic strip. The music is by Shellac.
